Hillary Clinton gets a standing ovation at Café Carlyle

Some of the voters who helped Hillary Clinton win the popular vote were at Café Carlyle Friday night as she, Bill Clinton, Chelsea Clinton and Marc Mezvinsky attended Steve Tyrell’s 8:45 p.m. show.

Hillary and Bill held hands during “The Way You Look Tonight.” But the high point came when Tyrell closed the show with “That’s Life,” the anthem that Frank Sinatra turned into a hit.

As Tyrell sang, “Each time I find myself flat on my face, I pick myself up and get back in the race,” the entire room rose and gave a prolonged standing ovation to Hillary.

Said one witness: “I’m sure there were some people in that well-heeled crowd who did not vote for her, but the feeling conveyed in the music and applause for her transcended politics in a wonderful way.”

Meanwhile, Harvey Weinstein, who took Hillary to Rao’s last week, was the surprise guest at the Christmas party Friday night held in the Park Avenue apartment of conservative writer Taki Theodoracopulos.

Theodoracopulos’ co-host, movie-maker Michael Mailer, was responsible for luring Weinstein to the bash, as well as “Billions” star Damian Lewis and the long-legged models on hand.
