A children’s care worker has been fired after allegedly having an affair with an underage girl she was looking after.
Kasia Koziara, a mum-of-one in her 30s, is now also facing a police investigation into her relationship with the troubled schoolgirl.
Edinburgh City Council sacked the care worker after the accusations emerged, the Daily Record reported.
Koziara, from Prestonpans in East Lothian, appealed against the decision, but she lost after photos of her posing with the girl and ‘flaunting’ an engagement ring appeared on social media.
It is believed that, on one occasion when the teenager went missing and the police were called, the girl was actually with Koziara.
Council bosses reportedly saw CCTV evidence that the two were together – sparking an immediate disciplinary procedure. Koziara was then suspended.
A council source told the Record: ‘(Koziara) has admitted to this being a sexual relationship. This was a vulnerable, underage girl she was supposed to be looking after.’
They added that, after Koziara was dismissed, the teenager turned up at the home ‘shouting abuse and trying to kick the door in’.
Koziara had previously been transferred from another home after colleagues became concerned about a boy in her care.
It is not known if Koziara and the girl are still in a relationship, and the council has said it would be inappropriate to comment on ‘the circumstances surrounding this staff member’s departure’.
‘Inquiries are at an early stage,’ a spokesperson added. ‘We will continue to work closely with partner agencies to establish the full circumstances.’
